Paying for Extra Services?

One vital part of the adoption paperwork process is having all of your certified and authenticated documents handy, up to date and sent in on time.

I guess I would consider myself a very pro-active person when it comes to getting things done for something I really want. I also like to be in control - but that's another story. So there's this company that Gladney recommends and Kate, the owner will take on the responsibility for all of your important documents. Whether it's sending them off all packaged and prepped to the foreign country or even if you need copies of your birth certs pulled, KBS Dossiers can do it...for a fee.

For $400 - not including expenses for the actual copies of docs and shipping fees - Kate can do everything for us. And for $275 - again not including the before mentioned expenses - she can have them all authenicated for us. Now the expenses for shipping and notaries and certified copies we're already going to have to pay for, and to me those don't really seem like that big a deal to procure. I suppose some couples just want the option to know that with someone else taking care of the docs, that's one less thing to worry about.

So I'm torn. Since we've never adopted before it'd be nice for someone to just have it done right for us. But it's silly to me to pay someone for something I feel like I can do. Maybe we'll compromise and we can pay her the smaller fee to have everything authenticated.
