The Circle Complete

We held our family meeting with my parents and brother/sister-in-law last Saturday night. It'd been a long day after spending nearly four hours at a wedding for a friend, but we were determined to still go forward.

Thankfully, John was the one who talked mostly. I can't get through talking about it without crying. I hate crying.

My dad reacted just like John's dad - they have to wait to be excited and make sure that we've got all our basics covered and that we realized that we know what we're getting into. As a matter of fact, I don't think we'll see true excitement from them until we're standing in DFW airport with our son. That will be a great day. My mom and Jenny were thrilled and curious and most of all supportive. We talked about the country, the children, how we will adjust once having adopted...we talked about baby showers and Joshua (my baby nephew) having another cousin.

Our family isn't oblivious to adoption. Some close family friends of ours adopted a little girl from Korea 17-18 years ago and it's the story of their family that every knows that God had it planned for Emily to be a part of their family. And I feel the same for us. My mom told me the other day that she was thinking it all over again and God reminded her of Moses - how his mom placed him in a basket on the river knowing and trusting that God would send him to where he was to be. So our son - yes, we're looking adopt a boy - is probably out there right now waiting for us.

Tomorrow morning is our phone orientation with Gladney. We're going over paperwork and will then start our application process.
