Recently, I discovered this mom/pop mailing place not far from our house. It's one of those places where you can mail regular stuff via USPS, but you can also drop off your FedEx and UPS packages that will get picked up. Kind of your one-stop shop for mailing needs.
I volunteered to work some overtime at the office Saturday morning, but as soon as I was done, I headed to the bank to get a couple of money orders and then went to this shipping store. (I can't remember the name for some reason) I was able to make copies of everything I needed and also get our contract and some items shipped off to KBS Dossiers to start that service. I think I mentioned before that we decided to go with Kate and having her help us with the dossier. So to start with we had to send her the KBS contract, a release form for communications between her and Gladney, two checks and anything we'd already gathered for our dossier. In this case, all we have so far are our birth certs and marriage license.
Our next item to send off, hopefully tomorrow, is our application for immigration - the I-600A form (something like that). We've already filled out the app, made copies of birth certs and marriage license and I have a check for them. The app fee is $670 and the $80 per adult that needs to be fingerprinted. I need to make copies of all that ppwk before mailing it though. That's one annoying thing about all this ppwk is I want to make sure I have copies of everything we're sending out to refer back to. So first it takes some time to compile what we need to send and then when I'm ready to send it, I need to first make copies. Anyhow, the immigration form is supposedly going to take 3-6 mths to clear. Once they receive our homestudy, then we'll get appointments to be fingerprinted. One step at a time....
John has his doctor's appoitment today. It's basically a physical but they also will need to test us for HIV, TB and Hep-B. Fun stuff. My appointment is Wednesday morning. It will be so nice to get this step out of the way.
